Five follow-up messages
for unanswered quotes
Most owners think a follow-up has to remind the customer they exist. It does not. A quiet quote usually just needs an easier way to answer, and here are five messages that give them one, each for its own situation, with when to use it and when to stop.
Two days of quiet
"Hi Sam, quick one. Is there anything in the kitchen quote you want me to explain or change? One word back is enough, and I will take it from there."
When to use it
Two days after the quote, and no reply.
Why it works
You lower the cost of answering to one word. Most people can manage that.
Still deciding
"Hi Sam, I know you are thinking it over. If it would help, I can send the kitchen quote in three lines so it is easy to compare. Want that?"
When to use it
They told you they would think about it.
Why it works
You make the next step small and useful. They can say yes or no.
The two-week quiet
"Hi Sam, I will stop chasing the kitchen quote now. It was good talking, and I am here if you ever want to pick it back up."
When to use it
They went elsewhere, or two weeks passed with nothing.
Why it works
You leave without guilt on either side. The door stays open.
Answered it already
"Hi Sam, just to save you hunting for it: yes, the kitchen quote includes the plumbing and the finishing. Ask me anything else and I will answer it plainly."
When to use it
They asked a question you already answered.
Why it works
You make it easy to find and easy to ask again.
A true deadline
"Hi Sam, one thing to tell you straight. My calendar for the next two weeks is nearly full, so if you want the kitchen soon, let me know by Friday. If you need more time, that is fine, I will find you a slot later."
When to use it
Only when it is true. A real end date, or a calendar that is actually filling.
Why it works
It is honest, so it reads as help, not pressure.
When to stop
Send these five, then stop. Your final message is the open door:
"No problem, Sam. I will leave it with you. I am here if you need me."
After that, let it rest. More messages will not win the job, and they cost you time you could spend on the next quote.
We make the marketing and you approve it before it goes out. If you would rather hand your follow-up messages to us, send a message and we will talk, no rush.
